Camp Out & Breaking Fast

Am currently blogging from hubby's office at 12:10 am..it's blackout at home leaving us no other choice but to pack up some pillows n comforters n food (for sahur) to hubby's office which luckily, is just nearby our home in Kelana Jaya.

Earlier on, we had a special breaking fast - my llittle princess, Sofea has just started fasting today...me n hubby were so pleased that she managed to hold it till breaking time (she's 6 yrs old) - we've asked her to pick where she would want to eat on her first breaking fast n she chose pizza hut.

Mask

In lieu with the current H1N1 pandemic that is hitting nationwide, masks have become the essential (accessory) for all as a prevention from the disease. Honestly, i have yet to start wearing it..i think many of us Malaysian hv not been taking serious prevention of it. With the recent hike of numbers of confirmed cases and death, it's not really advisable to go hang out in public places, even at malls n cinemas. But of lately, i've noticed more n more r wearing masks when they go shopping at the malls n hypermarkets..making me feel inferior as i hv not been putting any mask on my children. Those who r wearing it must have taken me as one of those not so thoughtful mom :(

Hence, I am planning to ensure that my family is protected and will definitely buy some masks on my next shopping trip (hubby had bought it earlier but i've misplaced them :s) My two boys have taken their own initiative though...hehehee..they have chosen their own masks in advanced..

Introducing Mr Bumble Bee & Mr Optimus Prime ;)

They r quite stylist too, don't ya think ;)

Of Ample Proportions :(

I have been eating happily without any worries in the world. It all started when my husband started working back here (he worked in Spore the whole of last year)...sorry yang..have to blame someone...hehhehe...we were always trying out the new restaurants around our place in Kelana Jaya..and i feel it got worsened now after my maid had left, i am swamped with all the chores n what better way is there to complement ur tiredness than eating? u work, then go home to mounting house chores waiting n 4 u as well as the 3 young children, after u r done with the work or in the middle of it u munch munch munch n rest n u munch again...well u get the picture rite?

I am currently facing boredom whenever it's time to get dress. It's kinda depressing not being able to fit nicely in ur clothes anymore, esp when they feel a bit tight around u..huhuuhuu...and it got worse when ur hubby keeps luring u into eating all those sinful meals..he did it again last nite when he brought us to our fav victoria station when i was planning to skip dinner..u see, how can i ever resist their chilli spare ribs?

the holy ramadhan starts tomorrow n judging by my experiences, it doesn't work if u r planning to lose weight during this fasting month..trust me on this..i doesn't work! i know for sure i'll be breaking fast with the sweet kuih pelita n other mouth watering dishes n soon it's raya with all those delectable lemang, rendang n ketupat palas....will definitely make anyone out of proportion!

SuperMom

A friend of mine mentioned how she felt like a supermom, juggling in between all her piles of work in the office and her other piles of works at home. Well, it's good to know (and a relief too) that i am not alone in this department. Since the departure of my dear personal assistant a.k.a maid, my life (at home to be specific) is like being hit by a turbulence..with endless responsibilities n tasks both at home and work...it's really really hard to refrain yourself from complaining..nevertheless lucky for those who love to blog, we get to spill it all out here..

My three dear children are truly very understanding of their poor mommy's conditions...Ariel has now becomes mommy's new secretary, reminding his big sis to complete her homework b4 mommy gets home.. His exact words were " Kakak, mommy said finish your homework or she cut off our disney channels" (hehe..mommy had to play the threatening tactics).. Ariel is also now 100% diaper-free! Yupp... am proud to announce that- at 3 n 1/2 yrs old, he is no longer depending on diapers at nite hence, mommy gets extra $$$ for her retail theraphy ;) Aidil, my youngest has also becoming more n more independent. He now sleeps on his own bed and mommy doesn't have to wait by his side for him to dozed off at nite..meaning she gets to turn in earlier at nite (well...is 12am considered early?)

Of Children & Clothing

They say it's fun dressing up a girl as there r endless choices of clothing lines for girls. Unlike for boys, where the only clothing lines available for them are shirts, t-shirts, pants and more shirts. Whenever i go to the children's dept, i always have my eyes on the cute, lovely n glamorous girl's outfits. How i wish i have more daughters to dress 'em up. That's why my girl Sofea, being my one n only princess, is always with beautiful girlish outfits (that i made her wear, in pink especially..;p)

Dressing up a boy can be challenging..it requires more creativity but at the end of the day, the end results r pretty much the same - shirts n pants (shorts/jeans/khakis). For my 2 boys, i love dressing 'em up in the same shirts..(i think previously only twins do tat..) i feel it's very practical esp if u r heading to the crowded places like a mall, they r easily identified ;)

These are my boys, Ariel & Aidil in twin-like shirts:

Aidil being his cheeky-self

sometimes i even dressed my 3 kids in a colour coded theme..hhehehe

But i think now i'm gonna change this trend..i've decided to let my children choose their own clothings...(but of course with the approval of their fashion editor, yours truly, hehehe). So no more twin-like tops/shirts n colour codes thingy (xcept for specific occasion..bleh >< )..I've started shopping for the coming raya..(hehhehe puasa pun belum) n i shall post their choices of clothing up here soon ;)

nizzura.blogspot.com is the old new azuraabdulaziz.com

It has been 2 mths since my last posting..been so bz with lots of diff things...been wanting to write about it in this blog of mine but just didn't hv the energy (n effort) to do so.. now tat my dotcom doesnt really seem to be working anymore, guess i hv to stick to my original url for my blog i.e nizzura.blogspot.com. BTW for the benefits of those who didnt know the origin of this name, it's actually a combination of my hubby's n my name..nizam +azura = nizzura. It's kinda romantic initially, being the few couples with names like tat..but its kinda boring n unimaginative now since there r lots of couples started following the trend.. ;(
BTW, if u ever found a Nizzura when u google it, it's not me tat carries the name..it's my hubby. Apparently, tat is his commercial name..he uses it whenever he's doing his internet marketing thingy..kinda weird at first when people started addressing him as nizzura but then again...it is kinda shows how we are very much part of each other's lives...lol

Career Mom II

I listen to mix.fm on the way to work. Today's topic was about whether or not a career mom felt guilty to be out working all day while their children are left at home or at nurseries etc. As a mom, this topic intrigued me of course. I can still recalled those first few months when i first had my 1st born child...i resented having to leave her for work and work doesn't seem so fulfilling or to look forward to anymore..this had continued on for quite some time..having to juggle between family, work n my further studies (was doing my master's), i called it a quit when my daughter was 1 yr n 7 mths old..mind you, it was not easy being a full time mom either..i resumed working 3 mths later, realizing that i do not hv to feel guilty for having my own career.

In my humble opinion, i think it is one of the most responsible thing to do to have your own career where you do not only make a living, but also being an economically productive person and giving something back to the community. As career moms, we are also providing a better future for our children, and therefore one should never EVER feel guilty of having to leave their children to their caretakers as long as we always have their best interest in mind.. and as parents, it is indeed the most valuable thing to being able to attend to their needs and to love them endlessly..

Mother's Day

M is for the miracle of Being.
O is for its origin in love.
T is for the tenderness of seeing.
H is for a home no wind can move.
E is for the ecstasy of living.
R is for the recklessness of giving.

Happy Mother’s Day to dear Mum,
Author of my personality:
Pleased, I hope, with what you read in me;
Pleased, I hope, with episodes to come.
Yet now I, too, would get some pleasure from
Making you the book in which I see,
Of all the players in my family,
The central character, whom I would plumb.
How beautiful to move in that direction!
Each to each a separate source of pleasure,
Reading in the other’s happiness,
‘Mid much description, underlying love.
So would we deepen the connection,
Discovering new passages to treasure
As we follow time towards tenderness,
Yearning for what years unread will prove.

Career Mom

I am currently teaching in one of the most reputable private school. Although i used to teach in uni college, surprisingly i prefer teaching in schools. There r few pros n cons of teaching but i guess the most publicly known fact of teaching is its appealing working hours. You see, for a career mom like me, it's crucial to being able to juggle between your workloads and ur family especially if u have small children like me. I leave early to work, but i also reach home earlier than most of other career mom out there..(~4 pm). It's priceless to actually come home to three pairs of welcoming hands and watching how ur arrival has brighten up their day. In return, seeing their smiles n hearing their cheers of joy really wipe off all my tiredness n madness towards this mad world.

So, what do i do after work?
A lot ;)

After work, sometimes me n my kids have a round of ice-cream to beat the humidity;

Then, when hubby gets home, we go out for a stroll at our nearby park;
If i feel like sweating it out, me n hubby will go for a few rounds of jog while the kids play at the playground

Err..sorry, pls sengetkan ur head 2 view this pic of gorgeous mom n her 3 children ;)

When i'm not tat up for cooking (which kinda most of d time..hehhe) we have dinner at nearby gerai or restaurant

And best of all, i get to check/ help/ guide my daughter, Sofea with her homework, which is kinda important since kids these days have a lot of homework..

Sofea struggling with her mandarin homework

Sofea n her kepoh baby bro, Aidil

Sometimes when hubby comes home after his late nite work, we'll lepak at gerai for lite supper..here's with Aidil who was still awake at 11pm..

Soon after the children r at bed, its time for mommy to unwind. It's off to catch up with the latest movie (courtesy of pirated dvd) b4 finally dozing off..zzZzzz

Goodnite;)

Bronze Expedition

I had the opportunity to join the Bronze Expidition for 2 days n 1 nite at the Saujana Camp in Asahan, Malacca.
I have not been to any camp or vigorous outing for the past 12 years n here i was with bunch of wild n active kids from Cempaka.

Never ending story...

I was waiting outside the classroom for my next class when i saw the uncle who works at the school canteen was sitting at the corridor, trying to catch his breath. It was after the lunch break, the busiest time at the canteen and the poor uncle must have just finished clearing the tables n etc.

He saw me watching me n he explained how tired he was n being 70 yrs old. We chatted for a while n he left to continue his work while i continued mine.

That uncle reminds me of my dear dad. My dad is also at his 70s n enjoys reading newspapers at home or sitting at the restaurants near our home for tea breaks. I realised over the years, how my dad have done so much for my family and have been a great dad n grandpa for his grandchildren. I am relieved that he doesn't have to work to support himself n that he is enjoying his life after retirement. As his daughter, there's nothing more that i want from him except for him to be happy and blessed with long and healthy life.

While it is a common practice and assumptions that children need to support and care for their elderly parents, not many can afford to do so. Especially with the current economics situation, it's becoming common to see more and more of the senior citizen returning to the workforce. It's either they are doing it because they prefer to work and enjoy their career, or because they need to keep working to keep up with their responsibilities.

This may be something for most of us to ponder with...what do we do to spice up our stories in life n how do we want our story to ends..

Sinful Food Aftermath

I am currently on meal replacement in hope of replacing the stubborn body fat that have been comfortably stored in my body.
But i can't so no to my hubby thoughtful gesture to have lamb chop for dinner yesterday. It was soOoo delicious n fulfilling.

When i reached home rite after dinner, i had funny n feverish feeling.. my guess was that since my body has only been accommodating n tolerating with the milkshakes n simple lunch, the scrumptious lamb chop has given my body a surprise shock -and as a result, the feverish thingy. Yess, as dump as it may sound, i am so not feeling well...am having running nose n fever..and to make things worst, i've been dizzy and sleepy from the cold medicine...aargghhh..can't seem to open my eyes widely...i just can't wait to get home n zzzZzZz...

Ms Blurry

I went to see an optometrist yesterday n was quite taken aback when he told me that my left eye is now at -5.00! My right eye is somewhere below -4.00. I wonder how that happened. Where did the huge gap come from? It's my right eye that is actually giving me some blurry vision n strain. So after checking my eyes in the 'dark room' i got my prescription n take home my new sets of disposable contact lenses- yes, i have to get two sets as my eyesight is apparently not balanced.

I am wearing my new contact lenses today and it's been giving me a headache. Earlier on, i feel that my right eye's vision is quite blurry and now i'm feeling that my left eye is blurry.

I'm feeling tired and exhausted from all this blurriness. I wish i were at home where i can just dozed off..zzZzZzzzZz

$$$

The days r approaching the last day of the month n it's tat period of the month when we will start calculating our budget for the next month. It's a surprising fact to many of us when we would find that our $ is already finishing fast even before we actually have it on our pay day. It's a very very sad situation for us, the working class people.. :(

I like to quote today's quote in my cheeky quote section on my blog page that i find amusing n true to a certain degree:

"Money, if it does not bring you happiness, will at least help you be miserable in comfort" by Helen Gurley Brown.

Online Shopping

I consider myself as a newbie in this field. I bought a brand new Coach handbag from whoosh2 (obviously coz it's waaay cheaper than the Coach boutiques here) n it just arrived yesterday.I didn't expect it to arrive this soon as i expect it to reach me at least next week. The bag is fabulous n i soo love it..now i'm eyeing 4 my next purchase online..hehehe

Cupcakes

It was my mom in law's bday yesterday so i decided to bake cupcakes 4 her. I need to practice on decorating the toppings anyway. Here's the end results...not too bad...not to mention my daughter, Sofea helped with the decor too..the cakes r delicious n d butter cream toppings tasted just nice..not too sweet though i still need to work on the decor..which will be very tricky as my hands r as hard as it can be when it is required to get creative;)

The cakes read "Happy Bday Tok Wan"

In a nutshell, it's a great bake n crafts activity tat u can spend with ur offspring;) Am definitely doing it again soon ;D
